The European Commission will impose provisional antidumping duties on stainless steel hot rolled imports from Taiwan, China, and Indonesia, effective on April 12th, 2020. These provisional duties follow an investigation started on August 12, 2019, following the complaints lodged by the European Steel Association (EUROFER). The investigation covered stainless steel hot rolled products under HS codes 7219 11, 7219 12, 7219 13, 7219 14, 7219 22, 7219 23, 7219 24, 7220 11, and 7220 12.
The duty applied to Taiwan's Yieh United Steel Corp. (Yusco) and Tang Eng Iron Works Co., Ltd. is 6.2 percent, while Walsin Lihwa and other companies received 7.5 percent duty.
Also, the duty applied to China's Shanxi Taigang Stainless Steel Co., Ltd., Taiyuan Taigang Daming Metal Products Co. Ltd., TISCO Guangdong Stainless Steel Service Center Co., Ltd. and Tianjin TISCO & TPCO Stainless Steel Co. Ltd. is 18.9 percent. The duty for Fujian Fuxin Special Steel Co., Ltd. is 14.5 percent, while Xiangshui Defeng Metals Co., Ltd. and Fujian Dingxin Technology Co., Ltd. are subject to 17.4 percent duty.
Indonesian steelmakers, including PT Indonesia Tsingshan Stainless Steel, are subject to a 17.4 percent duty.
The final decision is expected on October 10 this year.
