According to a report released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities, in July this year the seasonally-adjusted production of the construction sector in the European Union member states (EU-27) increased by 0.3 percent as compared to June and was up 0.2 percent compared to June 2010. In June, the production decreased 1.1 percent compared to the previous month, according to the newly revised data.
In the EU, building construction in July decreased by 0.2 percent month on month and was down by 0.7 percent compared to July 2010, while civil engineering rose by two percent over June and by 2.6 as compared to the same month last year.
As compared to June, construction output in July increased in Slovenia by 10.3 percent, in Romania by 3.3 percent, in Germany by 3.2 percent and in Poland by 1.2 percent, while month-on-month decreases of 4.3 percent, 3.1 percent and 2.8 percent and 1.6 percent respectively were registered in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Portugal and the Czech Republic.
