Essar receives API grade pipe orders from Middle East and Africa

India-based steelmaker Essar Steel has announced that it has received two major overseas orders from the Middle East and Africa for API grade steel pipes, worth a total of INR 4 billion ($72 million). With these orders, Essar Steel's pipe order book amounts to INR 10 billion ($179.7 million).

The order from Africa is for the construction of 4,000 mt offshore line pipe which will be used in a Chevron project, while the order from the Middle Eastern buyer is for 45,000 mt of 48 inch high grade coated pipes which will be supplied in the coming quarter.

Essar Steel has an annual pipe production capacity of 600,000 mt, including 275,000 mt of API-grade helical submerged arc welding (HSAW) line pipes and 325,000 mt of API-grade longitudinal submerged arc welding (LSAW) line pipes.
