Two Houston, Texas-based companies, Enbridge Inc. and Enterprise Products Partners LP, announced Tuesday that they will proceed with an expansion of the US-Canada Seaway Pipeline after securing capacity commitments from shippers. The expansions will more than double the pipeline's crude oil capacity to 850,000 barrels per day (BPD) by mid-2013. Enbridge and Enterprise also received commitments that support construction of a 512-mile, 30-inch diameter parallel line along the route of the Seaway Pipeline, adding 450,000 BPD of capacity.

Enbridge also announced plans Tuesday to proceed with an expansion of its Flanagan South pipeline project, which will add incremental capacity for shippers seeking transportation from Flanagan, Illinois, to the US Gulf Coast, utilizing a portion of capacity on the reversed Seaway Pipeline System.
