Dofasco ponders greater cooperation with Toyota

Several Canadian news sources suggest that Japanese automaker Toyota’s proposed CA$600 million (US$484 million) assembly plant in southwestern Ontario has caused Canadian steelmaker Dofasco to consider establishing a new galvanizing mill in the province. Dofasco’s main product lines include hot rolled, cold rolled, galvanized, and tinplate flat rolled steels, as well as tubular products. The company's major North American customers include GM, Ford, and Honda. If Dofasco and Toyota proceed with their proposed investments it could create the perfect opportunity for both companies to expand their cooperation. Toyota is currently the smallest of Dofasco’s automotive customers.
