Italy-based plantmaker Danieli has announced that it has relocated Shandong Rizhao’s slab casters at the latter’s Rizhao plant and started one of them.

According to Danieli’s statement, the relocation involved the moving of CC4 and CC5 slab casters, which were originally supplied by Danieli in 2007, from the Jinan site to the site at Rizhao, and the upgrading of both to achieve higher quality products.

The CC4 caster, which was started up on January 9, has a production capacity of 1.5 million mt and will produce slabs of 200 mm and 250 mm in thickness and of 1,600 mm to 2,300 mm in width.

The CC5 caster is scheduled to begin operation within the next two months and both will be fully operational by mid-2019.
