Daehan Steel prepares to commission long steel facility

South Korean steelmaker Daehan Steel Mill Co. (Daehan Steel) has announced that it has carried out a hot test run at its new bar-in-coil and wire rod facility in Pyeongtaek, Gyenoggi Province, South Korea. The facility is expected to be put into production at the end of the current year or at the beginning of next year.
 
With equipment supplied by German plantmaker SMS Meer, the facility can produce 10-16 mm SD300, 400, 500 bar-in-coil and 12-26 mm wire rod. After the facility goes into operation, the output of Daehan Steel will reach up to 1.50-1.60 million mt. Daehan Steel stated that they it will adjust its output in line with demand. The billet used in production at the Pyeongtaek facility with be supplied from Daehan Steel's plant at Noksan.
