A technical report from public prosecutors in the state of Minas Gerais (MPMG) said there are risks for a Companhia Siderurgica Nacional (CSN) iron ore waste dam to collapse.

The Casa de Pedra dam, located in the city of Congonhas, in the state of Minas Gerais, is said to present a number of issues that may put communities at risk. The report said there were fails in the dam’s monitoring. The parameters adopted by CSN’s auditor to state the dam’s stability seem to diverge from reality, according to the MPMG report.

The MPMG report also said CSN did not comply with emergency actions to prevent a disaster, such as training people. The report found out the company also lacks information about the escape route and meetings points in the case of a collapse.
