Brazilian steelmaker Companhia Siderurgica Nacional (CSN) said on Thursday it plans to resume iron ore activities at its Fernandinho mine in “a few days.”

CSN owns Minérios Nacional S.A, which runs the Fernandinho iron ore mine. It expects output to “gradually” resume, following intense rainfall that forced miners in Brazil to suspend activities.

CSN said it expects the dam, which is currently at risk level 1, to return to a “zero” risk level after contention repairs are completed.  The risk of dams in Brazil are measured by levels, in which level 3 means the structure is likely to collapse.

CSN said iron ore output at the Fernandinho mine accounts for a small, not relevant fraction of CSN’s total iron ore output.
