Colombian ferronickel export value up 18.4 percent in H1

Production in the Colombian manufacturing industry increased by 2.8 percent in June this year compared to the same month of 2011, as announced by the Colombian National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE).

In the month in question, Colombia's basic iron and steel production increased by 19.4 percent on year-on-year basis, In the first half of the current year, Colombia's basic iron and steel production increased by 20.6 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.

In June this year, Colombia's iron and steel exports value rose by 29.4 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching $98.2 million, while the country's ferronickel export value increased 16.9 percent compared to the same month of the previous year to $64.2 million. In the first half of this year, Colombia's ferronickel export value rose by 18.4 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching $474.7 million.
