Coke jv of TISCO to base on imported coal

According to recent news in the market, Indian steel producer Tata Iron and Steel Corp (TISCO) has announced that the coke joint venture company it will establish at Haldia with West Bengal Industrial Development Corp (WBIDC) will use imported coal for production. In the first phase, the production capacity of the joint venture will be 800.000 tons. TISCO officials stated that they have not determined the name of the company yet. TISCO will hold the majority of the stakes of the company, construction of which will cost around Rupees 6 billion ($130.4 million). The officials also stated that the joint venture company will be built at the port side of Haldia to make it easy to import coal.
