On Tuesday, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) said in press releases on its website that it is requesting four importers of carbon steel welded pipe (standard pipe) from Chinese Taipei, India, Oman, Korea, Thailand, UAE to provide certain information. The CITT said the information that Coutinho & Ferrostaal Ltd., Marubeni-Itochu Steel Canada, R&R Trading Co. Ltd., and Sumitomo Canada Limited is relevant to the conduct of its inquiry.
In this case, the CITT believes that the requested information from the four companies is important to its deliberations, and therefore the CITT has used its authority to issue an order to each of these companies to respond to the questionnaire or to explain why it cannot do so.
The order includes certain pipe supplied to meet ASTM A53, ASTM A135, ASTM A252, ASTM A589, ASTM A795, ASTM F1083 or Commercial Quality, or AWWA C200-97 or equivalent specifications, including water well casing, piling pipe, sprinkler pipe and fencing pipe, but excluding oil and gas line pipe made to API specifications exclusively, originating in or exported from Chinese Taipei, the Republic of India, the Sultanate of Oman, the Republic of Korea, Thailand, the Republic of Turkey and the United Arab Emirates and the subsidizing of the above-mentioned goods from the Republic of India, the Sultanate of Oman and the United Arab Emirates.
