Recently, China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous government proposed, the local coal sector should moderately control coal production basing on the market supply and demand dynamics of 2009. Also, the authority would no longer approve any new coal construction projects this year. The region's coal production in the first quarter this year ranks first in the nation.

Some governmental officials pointed out, the local coal production of this year should be controlled at the same level as last year, i.e., 460 million mt.

In the first quarter of this year, the region's coal production growth rate has already far exceeded that of other districts. According to the data supplied by the economic commission of Inner Mongolia, in the first quarter, Inner Mongolia has totally produced 1.298 billion mt of coals, an increase of 31.63 million mt or 28.4 percent year on year. During the same period, the raw coal production of the region ranks first in the nation with the nationally fastest growth rate. But meanwhile, the coal production of the whole nation has only increased by 5.22 percent compared with last year.
