According to the data released by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), China's industrial production continued to grow steadily in October. China's industrial added-value saw 13.1 percent growth in October this year as compared to the corresponding period of 2009, with this year-on-year growth rate down three percentage points from the same period of 2009 and down 0.2 percentage points from the previous month. China's industrial added-value registered 16.1 percent growth in the January-October period of this year as compared to the corresponding period of 2009.
In October, China's added-value in light industry and heavy industry rose by 12.9 percent and 13.2 percent respectively year on year, with these year-on-year growth rates down 0.1 percentage points and 0.2 percentage points respectively month on month. In the first ten months of this year, the added-value of light and heavy industry in China moved up by 13.6 percent and 17.1 percent respectively year on year.
In addition, in October the added-value of the six main high-energy-consumption industries in China, i.e., the electricity, steel, non-ferrous metal, construction material, petrochemical and chemical sectors, moved up 9.3 percent year on year, with this growth rate down 0.4 percentage points month on month and 0.2 percentage points lower than the average acceleration posted by overall national industry. In the first ten months of 2010, the added-value of the six sectors in question rose by 14.3 percent year on year, 1.8 percentage points lower than the average increase rate posted by overall national industry.
