China claims 73% of new shipbuilding orders globally in October

In October this year, China attracted 73 percent of new shipbuilding orders (2.13 million CGT) globally, ranking first in the global market, while South Korea claimed an 18 percent share (520,000 CGT), ranking second, according to the data issued by Clarksons, the world’s leading provider of integrated shipping services.

In October, new shipbuilding orders totaling 2.91 million CGT were placed in the global market, down 33 percent month on month, while declining by 38 percent year on year.
