CAP Group, a Chilean mining and steelmaking company, has filed an environmental impact declaration to update its Las Losas iron ore port, a media report from El Dia said. The company intends to begin improvement works this year.

The project encompasses an encapsulated conveyor belt system to move its iron ore along the port facility. The company will also build new supporting facilities that would modify the project approved by local authorities in 2015, El Dia said.

CAP Group told El Dia works will allow the Las Losas port to load and unload iron ore pellets and iron concentrates. CAP Group is expected to invest $8.6 million in the improvement works.
