Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending January 6, the
US rotary rig count increased by seven to 665 following a five-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by three to 135, while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by four to 529. The overall rig count is now up by one rig in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by 48 to 205 rigs in the week ending January 6, following a 67-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is now up by 39 rigs from the same week a year ago.
