Canadian rig count ticks up slightly while US count plunges

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending October 2 the US rig count decreased by 29 to 809, after a four-rig decrease the previous week. The gas rig count decreased by two to 195, whereas the oil rig count decreased by 26 to 614. The overall rig count is still down by 1,113 from 1,922 rigs during the same week a year ago.
 
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by three in the week ending October 2 to 179, after a six-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by 251 from 430 rigs during the same week a year ago.
