Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending October 16 the US rig count decreased by eight to 787, after a 14-rig decrease the previous week. The gas rig count increased by three to 192, whereas the oil rig count decreased by 10 to 595. The overall rig count is still down by 1,131 from 1,918 rigs during the same week a year ago.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by one in the week ending October 16 to 181, after a one-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by 236 from 417 rigs during the same week a year ago.
