Canadian rig count still rises while US count drops again

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending October 9 the US rig count decreased by 14 to 795, after a 29-rig decrease the previous week. The gas rig count decreased by six to 189, whereas the oil rig count decreased by nine to 605. The overall rig count is still down by 1,135 from 1,930 rigs during the same week a year ago.
 
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by one in the week ending October 9 to 180, after a three-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by 240 from 420 rigs during the same week a year ago.
