Canadian rig count rises again while US count drops week-on-week

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending June 16, 2023, the US rotary rig count declined by eight rigs to 687.

The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by five to 130, while the number of rigs drilling for oil decreased by four to 552. The overall US rig count is down by 53 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by 23 to 159 rigs in the week ending June 16. The Canadian rig count is down by three rigs compared to the same reporting period last year.
