Canadian rig count plunges while US count continues to decline

Baker Hughes reported that for the week ending December 27, the US rig count decreased by 11 to 1,757, following 14-rig decrease the previous week.  Additionally, the rig count is still down by six from 1,763 rigs during the same week a year ago.  The oil rig count decreased by 13 to 1,382, whereas the gas rig count increased by two to 374.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count plunged by 135 in the week ending December 27 to reach 263, following a 28-rig decrease the week before.  However, the Canadian rig count was still up 59 from 204 rigs during the same week a year ago.
