Canadian rig count continues to plummet

Baker Hughes reported that for the week ending March 28, the US rig count increased by six to 1,809, following a six-rig decrease the previous week.  The rig count is still up by 61 from 1,748 rigs during the same week a year ago.  The oil rig count increased by 14 to 1,487, whereas the gas rig count decreased by eight to 318.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count continued its sharp downtrend, dropping by 91 in the week ending March 28 to reach 298, following a 133-rig plunge the week before.  However, the Canadian rig count is still up 52 from 246 rigs during the same week a year ago.
