Canadian industrial product and raw material prices increase in February 2026

According to Statistics Canada, prices of products manufactured in Canada, as measured by the Industrial Product Price Index (IPPI), increased 0.4 percent month over month in February and increased 5.4 percent on a yearly basis. Prices of raw materials purchased by manufacturers operating in Canada, as measured by the Raw Materials Price Index (RMPI), increased 0.6 percent from January to February and increased 8.6 percent year over year in February.

The IPPI was up 0.4 percent month over month in February, following a 2.8 percent increase in the previous month.

The IPPI was up 5.4 percent year over year in February 2026, the index's 17th consecutive month of year-over-year increases.

In February, the RMPI increased 0.6 percent month over month in February, mainly driven by higher prices for crude energy products (+4.8 percent).  Excluding crude energy products, the RMPI decreased 1.1 percent.

The RMPI increased 8.6 percent year on year in February. Excluding crude energy products, the RMPI posted a 20.9 percent year over year rise in February.
