Canada’s rig count continues decent upward trend while US count lags behind

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending July 10 the US rig count increased by one to 863, after a three-rig increase the previous week. The gas rig count decreased by two to 217, whereas the oil rig count increased by five to 645. The overall rig count is down by 1,012 from 1,875 rigs during the same week a year ago.
 
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by 30 in the week ending July 10 to 169, after a four-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is still down by 146 from 315 rigs during the same week a year ago.
