Brazil's industrial output down six percent in June

Brazil's national statistics agency (IBGE) has announced that in June this year industrial production in the country increased 1.1 percent compared to May, but was down six percent from June last year. In May, industrial output in Brazil remained stable month on month.
 
In the first half of this year, industrial production in Brazil was down by 9.1 percent on year-on-year basis.
 
According to the announcement, in the sixth month of this year the production of intermediate goods manufacturers in Brazil increased by 0.5 percent and output of capital goods rose by 2.1 percent, output of consumer goods grew by 1.2 percent, production of durable consumer goods moved up by 1.1 percent and output of semi-durable and non-durable consumer goods increased by 1.2 percent, all compared to the previous month.
 
In June of the current year, Brazil's metal products output decreased by 12.7 percent, machine and equipment output declined by 2.9 percent and output of motor vehicles and trailers moved down by 4.3 percent, all on year-on-year basis. In the first half of this year, Brazil's metal products output decreased by 15.1 percent, machine and equipment output declined by 13.2 percent and output of motor vehicles and trailers diminished by 21.2 percent, all compared to the same period of 2015.
