In April this year, Brazilian pig iron exports totaled 278,271 mt, up by 55.7 percent year on year. The key destinations in the period in question were the US and China accounting for 32 percent and 30.25 percent shares of the total exports, respectively. The majority of the volume or namely 176,817 mt originated from southeastern producers based in Minas Gerais, Steel Orbis has learned.
In the meantime, in the January-April period this year, Brazilian exports of pig iron increased by 41.8 percent year on year to 1.123 million mt.
