In June, Brazil exported 63,500 mt of finished steel products with revenues of $55.7 million, while importing 248,100 mt at $197.5 million.

This compares to exports of 302,600 mt at $219.3 million and imports of 341,700 mt at $270.0 million in May.

Considering the first six months of 2024, exports have reached 785,900 mt at $ 691.4 million and imports 1.703 million mt at $1.34 billion.

Coated flat products were the main items exported and imported in June, 60 percent of the total for exports and 48 percent for imports.

Expectations are maintained for Brazil to become a net exporter of finished steel products during the last quarter of the year due to the recently adopted system of import quotas and higher import tax for some of these products.
