Baosteel steps up steel pipe exports

Baosteel accelerated its expansion into the steel pipe market by developing new products and increasing its steel pipes export volume. By the end of October, the cumulative export volume of various kinds of steel pipes was 140’000 metric tons, up 11 percent year on year. Broken down by specific product, the export volume of oil well pipe topped 92’000 metric tons, a new high. The export volume of vessel pipes, mechanic processing pipes and structural pipes reached 48’000 metric tons. Major shipbuilders –Samsung, Hyundai and Daewoo– have begun to favor Baosteel’s vessel pipes over Japanese products. Baosteel has also expanded into the oil well pipe market in Middle East and Africa. Baosteel’s export to those regions accounted for 17 percent of its total export volume. The export volume of drill pipe also witnessed a breakthrough, reaching a new high of 9’500 metric tons. SteelOrbis Shanghai
