Inner Mongolia-based Chinese steelmaker Baotou Iron and Steel Co. (Baogang Group) has announced that its dual-phase steel output from its steel sheet plant exceeded 8,000 mt in October, increasing from an output of over 5,000 mt in September. Baogang also stated that it has become a long-term supplier of FAW Jiefang Automotive Co. (Qingdao).

Dual-phase steel is a high-strength steel which has a ferrite and martensitic microstructure. Its advantages include low yield strength, low yield strength to tensile strength ratio, good uniform elongation and good fatigue resistance. Dual-phase steel is widely applied in the manufacture of cold drawing, cold rolled and cold stamping products.
