On October 9, Inner Mongolia-based Chinese steelmaker Baotou Iron and Steel (Baogang) announced that its seamless steel pipe plant has achieved continuous production of large-diameter (LD) hot-expanded seamless pipes.

Hot expansion is a form of deep processing to transform seamless steel pipes into large-diameter steel pipes. The maximum diameter of the seamless pipes produced by hot expansion at the seamless pipe plant can reach 920 mm, while the plant could only produce 38-457 mm hot rolled seamless pipes before.
