Argentinian industrial output slightly declines in January

Argentinian industrial production in January slightly declined 0.1 percent, year-on-year, according to local statistics agency, Indec.

The January decline comes after a 1.3 percent increase in December, on a year-on-year basis, the first and only industrial output growth in 2019.

Indec said industrial production in the local automotive segment, which includes the nation’s auto parts and automotive sectors, rose 8.3 percent in January, year-on-year.

According to Indec’s qualitative survey, which measured the expectancies of the industrial segment for the February–April period, on a year-on-year basis, 28 percent forecast a decline in domestic demand. Another 50.5 percent expect domestic demand in the February–April period to remain stable, while 21.5 percent anticipate domestic demand will actually improve.

Out of the interviewed exporting companies, 56.8 percent forecast a stable February–April period for exports, while 21.8 percent expect an increase, and 21.4 percent expect a decline in exports in the same period.
