Argentinian crude steel production falls in December

Argentinian crude steel production in the last month of the year dropped 6.5 percent, year-on-year, and 21.9 percent, month-on-month, to 356,100 mt, local steel association, Camara Argentina del Acero (CAA), said.

According to the local steel association, hot rolled finished steel production in December was 283,500 mt, 31.9 percent down, year-on-year, and 25.8 percent down, month-on-month.

CAA said Argentinian cold rolled flat steel output in December declined 30.2 percent, year-on-year, but increased 8.4 percent on a month-on-month basis to 89,800 mt.

As for the full year of 2018, Argentinian crude steel output reached 5.16 million mt, 11.6 percent up, year-on-year.

CAA said local hot rolled finished steel production in the full year of 2018 period improved 3.8 percent, year-on-year, to 4.7 million mt.

On the other hand, cold rolled flat steel production in the January-December period was 1.25 million mt, 5.7 percent down, year-on-year, the local steel association said.
