Argentinian crude steel production in May increased 11.2 percent, year-on-year, to 438,100 mt, the nation’s steel association, Camara Argentina del Acero (CAA), said on Monday.
According to the trade group, local crude steel production dropped 5.4 percent in May, when compared to 463,000 mt in April this year.
As for the accumulated five-month period, from January to May, Argentinian crude steel output reached 2.13 million mt, 22 percent up, year-on-year.
The Argentinian Steel Chamber, CAA, said hot rolled finished steel output in May was 411,700 mt, 0.6 percent down, year-on-year, and 4.2 percent down, month-on-month.
In the January-May period hot rolled finished steel output totaled 2.09 million mt, 16.6
percent up, year-on-year.
CAA said cold rolled flat steel production in May was 92,700 mt, the lowest level since October last year, and 14.4 percent down, year-on-year.
Argentinian cold rolled flat steel production dropped 18.5 percent in May on a month-on-month basis.
As for accumulated period from January to May this year, Argentinian cold rolled flat steel production totaled 552,699 mt, 5.6 percent up, year-on-year, CAA said.
