Argentina’s crude steel output up 10.4% in Aug over July

According to the data released by Argentina's chamber of steel, in August this year Argentina's crude steel output amounted to 379,900 metric tons, rising 10.4 percent as compared to the previous month but down 22.4 percent year on year. In the first eight months of this year, Argentina's crude steel production totaled 3.5 million metric tons, decreasing 6.4 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, in August Argentina's total hot rolled steel product output amounted to 400,500 metric tons, down by 19.8 percent both month on month and compared to August 2011. Of this total, the hot rolled flat steel product output was 169,400 metric tons, down 30.6 percent month on month, while the long steel product output totaled 231,100 metric tons, decreasing by 9.6 percent compared to July this year.

The country's cold rolled flat steel product output in August fell by 5.9 percent month on month to 122,900 metric tons, up 5.5 percent as compared to August last year.
