Argentina’s crude steel output down 7.5 percent in May

According to the data released by Argentina's chamber of steel, in May this year Argentina's crude steel output amounted to 458,400 metric tons, falling by 4.5 percent as compared to the previous month and 7.5 percent year on year. In the first five months of this year, Argentina's crude steel production totaled 2.28 million metric tons, increasing by 1.7 percent year on year.

In May, Argentina's total hot rolled steel product output decreased by 4.5 percent month on month to 426,100 metric tons, while a 8.3 percent decrease was recorded on year-on-year basis, including output of 206,100 metric tons of hot rolled flat steel products - down 3.7 percent month on month, and 220,000 metric tons of long steel products, decreasing by five percent compared to April this year.

The country's cold rolled flat steel product output in May rose by 8.1 percent month on month to 126,100 metric tons, up 2.2 percent as compared to May last year.
