According to its press office, Argentina’s President Mauricio Macri has formally requested consideration for his country to be exempt from the 25 percent tariff on steel imports and 10 percent tariff on aluminum imports. Argentina’s Secretary of Commerce Miguel Braun is reportedly visiting Washington D.C. to discuss trade this week.

Argentina's Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a public statement added that Argentina’s exports to the US represent only 0.6 percent of steel imports and 2.3 percent of aluminum imports and, therefore, imports into the US from Argentina do not contribute to any potential market distortions being addressed by the tariff.
