ArcelorMittal to shut down warehouse in Germany amid weaker market conditions

Monday, 09 December 2024 12:22:58 (GMT+3)   |   Istanbul

Germany-based ArcelorMittal Stahlhandel Deutschland, a distribution arm of Luxembourg-based steel giant ArcelorMittal, has announced its decision to shut down its warehouse in Olpe.

The company stated that the reasons behind the closure decision were weaker market conditions in the south Westphalia region, where customer demand has been in decline, and the low-cost imports that have caused strong competition in the steel and metal construction, sheet metal processing and mechanical engineering industries, which the Olpe warehouse has been serving.

ArcelorMittal plans to close the warehouse by mid-2025 and to serve its customers in the south Westphalia region through its regional sales network.
