ArcelorMittal Méditerranée, France-based subsidiary of Luxembourg-based steelmaker ArcelorMittal, will not restart its blast furnace No. 1 at its Fos-sur-Mer site in Bouches-du-Rhône at the end of maintenance works due to lower demand, according to the local media reports.

The furnace, which was temporarily idled in September, will be kept idle until the market situation is consistent with starting up the site with two blast furnaces.

The company will reassess the demand situation at the end of the first quarter of 2024.
