Monday, 27 January 2025 12:21:16 (GMT+3)   |   Istanbul

ArcelorMittal Brazil, a subsidiary of Luxembourg-headquartered steelmaker ArcelorMittal, has announced that it has launched XCarb® Spring Flat Bar, developed in partnership with Brazil-based leaf springs manufacturer AESA, for the automotive market.

The product is manufactured with 100 percent recycled steel and 100 percent renewable energy at the company’s Barra Mansa plant in the state of Rio de Janeiro. XCarb® Spring Flat Bar will be used in the production of leaf springs for the suspension of heavy vehicles, such as trucks, ensuring a reduction of over 60 percent in carbon emissions.

Also, the process carried out by AESA in the final production of the part - transforming the steel into leaf springs - does not use fossil energy. The energy used in production comes from biomethane, a renewable gaseous fuel with properties similar to natural gas, produced from the purification of biogas.
