Prices have increased in the Turkish welded pipe market over the past week with the support of higher demand and the uptrend in the scrap and hot rolled coil (HRC) segments. Domestic offers for pipe have increased by $15/mt and now are standing at $475-505/mt ex-works, SteelOrbis has learned. “We are seeing better demand within the past two weeks and prices have also increased for raw materials. In these circumstances, pipe buyers accept higher levels too,” a producer told SteelOrbis.
As regards exports, prices have also gone up, rising by $10/mt and are now standing at $470-490/mt FOB. Demand has been better with the additional quotas, but buyers are cautious since the European Steel Association (EUROFER) is seeking reduced import quotas. “We do not expect to see any reduction at least until July, but the European Commission will evaluate this request eventually and buyers do not want to face any surprises before they receive their orders,” another source said.
** Prices are given for ERW pipes and hollow sections with 2-4 mm wall thickness made from HRC of S235 grade as per EN 10219, on theoretical weight basis.
