The expected price increase in the local European welded pipe market have materialized and a Bulgarian steel producer’s offers for ERW pipes as per EN 10219 have increased by €10/mt to €610-650/metre ($708-754/metre) CPT. The Bulgarian welded pipe producer’s quotations to Hungary and Poland are at €620-630/metre ($719-731/metre) CPT, with other offers to the Czech Republic and Austria being at €630-640/metre ($731-742/metre) CPT, while its offers to Germany and Romania are at €640-650/metre ($742-754/metre) CPT and €610-620/metre ($707-719/metre) CPT respectively.
The Bulgarian welded pipe producer in question will halt its production for two weeks in August and, while it has already completed its orders for August shipment, its order books are 30 percent full for September deliveries. Meanwhile, the problems regarding transportation by truck in Europe, which started to be seen last week, are expected to continue this month and will likely result in additional delivery costs occasionally. The problem is expected to be solved in subsequent months and conditions for transportation will likely be more favorable. Last week, uncertainties regarding implementation of EU trade measures were still being observed and there was some confusion at customs. Market sources state that the problem has started to be dealth with and the confusion about procedures is being resolved and has diminished.
