No major changes in local Chinese steel pipe prices  

Local Chinese steel pipe prices have moved sideways or fluctuated slightly during the past seven days.

Local Chinese seamless pipe prices have been mostly stable in the past week, with some slight downticks also seen. Upstream billet prices have risen by a small margin but pipe producers have generally kept their prices stable, while some traders under pressure to bring in cash have reduced their quoted prices slightly. Market inventory after the holiday has increased a little, exerting some pressure on prices. As for the week ahead, it is believed that seamless pipe prices in China may indicate some small downward adjustments.

Chinese domestic welded pipe prices have mostly moved up slightly during the past week. Overall trading activity has been at low levels after the Labor Day holiday. Upstream steel strip prices have increased, but the upticks in welded pipe prices have been smaller in comparison due to the ongoing weakness of demand. Increases in transportation charges may lead to a rise in costs. At present, the demand side is maintaining a wait-and-see stance. As for the week ahead, it is believed that local welded pipe prices may fluctuate in an upward direction.
