Local Chinese steel pipe prices have maintained a stable trend during the past week.

Chinese domestic seamless pipe prices have followed a stable trend during the past seven days as the Chinese New Year holiday is about to begin. Most traders are already on holiday. As for the coming period, considering the supply side may be impacted by the Winter Olympics and as downstream buyers have mostly kept their inventories at low levels, it is believed that seamless pipe prices may move on an upward trend after the Chinese New Year holiday.

Local Chinese welded pipe prices have also followed a stable trend during the past week, again due to the imminent holiday period. Upstream steel strip prices have increased, while supply of welded pipes is on the low side. As for the holiday, amid low inventory and the expected improvement in demand, it is believed that domestic welded pipe prices may rise slightly.
