During the week ending March 13, average Chinese steel pipe export offer prices have mostly moved on an upward trend. At present, export offers for API 5L seamless pipe given by Chinese suppliers are in the range of $650-740/mt FOB, while export offers for API 5L welded pipe given by Chinese suppliers are at $550-565/mt FOB.

During the given week, demand for steel pipes has been better; while inventory consumption has not reached the expected pace due to continuous rainy weather in eastern and southern China. The annual sessions of China’s parliament and its advisory body are being held in Beijing this week, while temporary monitoring of air pollution has been imposed in Hebei Province, negatively affecting steel pipe production, which has provided a certain degree of support for steel pipes prices. It is expected that steel pipe export prices from China will continue their uptrend in the coming week.
