On March 14, SteelOrbis reported import met coke (64-65 percent CSR) offers to India softening to $367-375/mt CFR India.

Sources inform SteelOrbis that a cargo of met coke was traded earlier this week to India at $350/mt FOB China or approximately $365/mt CFR India.

According to sources, met coke prices for import have declined as Chinese coke export prices have declined to $337-350/mt FOB China. This import price is translating to approximately $352-365/mt CFR India. The new offer range has decreased $15/mt from the bottom of the previous range and $10/mt from the top of the same range.

A source commented, “Chinese met coke prices may be under pressure until mid-April on temporary oversupply plus the Indian buyers have also been facing downward pressure on finished steel products.”
