Local Turkish scrap market declines on US dollar basis due to exchange rate

Most Turkish producers have kept their domestic scrap prices stable since SteelOrbis’ report published on Thursday, November 4, while a couple of them have decided to increase them by TRY 100-130/mt. However, due to the depreciation of the Turkish lira against the US dollar, all prices have moved down by $2-18/mt on US dollar basis. Market players state that the local scrap flow has been healthy in the past week.

As a result, the general range in the local Turkish scrap market for the benchmark DKP grade scrap has remained at TRY 4,150-5,085/mt, but on US dollar basis they have declined from $428-525/mt to $419-513/mt.
