Brazilian iron ore exports fall 12 percent as shipments to China drop 20 percent

Brazilian iron ore exports (pellets excluded) for July reached 35.183 million metric tons (mt) in July, against 39.818 million mt in June, according to data from Secex, the foreign trade secretariat of the ministry of development, industry and foreign trade.

The decline reflects chiefly shipments to China declining by 20 percent to 25.542 million mt.

The main destinations were Asia (30,186 million mt), Europe (2.639 million mt), the Middle East (753,300 mt), South America (707,100 mt), Africa (508,800 mt), and Mexico (389,000 mt).

Meanwhile, pellets exports increased by 7.6 percent to 2.594 million mt, destined to Africa (734,400 mt), the US (518,800 mt), Asia (504,400 mt), Europe (444,700 mt), Trinidad and Tobago (244,100 mt), Argentina (88,800 mt), and the United Arab Emirates (59,300 mt).
