Brazilian iron ore exports (pellets excluded) for April reached 31.710 million mt, against 25.768 million mt in March, according to data from Secex, Brazil’s secretariat of the ministry of development, industry and foreign trade.
The increase reflects mainly a higher volume exported to China, 25.263 million mt in April versus 19.471 million mt in March. Reduced March exports were due to holidays and the seasonal stoppage for the maintenance of blast furnaces in that country during the first quarter.
The main export destinations identified were Asia, (28.681 million mt), Europe, (1.298 million mt), South America, (821,600 mt), Africa, (516,400 mt) and Mexico, (392,400 mt).
Meanwhile, pellet exports rose by 32 percent to 2.858 million mt, with shipments to Asia reported at (1.009 million mt), Europe, (686,300 mt), Africa, (445,600 mt), the US, (390,100 mt) and Trinidad and Tobago, (280,000 mt), Secex data shows.
