With the Turkish lira gaining strength against the US dollar today, April 1, domestic rebar prices have made a downward start to the current week. Domestic rebar prices in the spot market have declined by an average of TRY 25/mt day compared to the end of last week to TRY 2,754-2,797/mt ($497-505/mt) ex-warehouse. Market sources state that demand in the local Turkish rebar market has been at low levels, while buyers are cautious amid the sharp fluctuations recorded in the Turkish lira-US dollar exchange rate after the local elections held on March 31 despite the strengthening of the lira today, and also due to the ongoing uncertainties surrounding the election results in some regions.
